5th April – Flower Making
Use a mixture of re-cycled and new papers/card to create flowers that will brighten any room – no water required. Bring along your own paper if you wish…. wall paper would work a treat…… or use what’s provided at BEANS. 3 – 4pm. £5 per person. Age – 8+. 12 April – Paper Making

22 Feb-21 March—Surface Pattern Decoration
Wed evenings 6.30—8.30pm (5 weeks) with Steph Harvey
Learn techniques to decorate fabric, paper (or whatever takes your fancy) using pigments, wax, bleach, glitter and metallics. Includes screen printing, batik and encaustic art.
£50 for 5 weeks. Materials: £3 per week.
21 Feb—20 March—Watercolour Painting
Tues evenings. 6.30 –8.30pm (5 weeks) with Shirley Potter
An opportunity to learn and explore what watercolours can do.
£50 for 5 weeks. Some materials available to purchase.
25 March—Make a Proddy Rug
10am-4pm with Rachael Rastrick
Learn to create a functional and hard-wearing rug using old clothes or fabric and a ‘bodger’ (to prod the material into the hessian backing). A chance to learn this inexpensive technique to create rugs for any room in the home.
£45 including lunch. Bodger: £12. Hessian: £1.50.
22 April—Feltmaking
10am-4pm with Jeanne Roberts
Create a felt piece using the basic wet-felting of fibres method while exploring colour, form and texture. An introductory day that will allow you to become familiar with the medium and provide a stepping stone to learning more complex methods of felting.
£45 including lunch. Materials: £3.
29 April—Book binding
10am-4pm with Heather Dewick
Make your own A6 book for sketching or writing. Learn how to fold, cut and sew the pages and how to measure and make the book’s cover. Materials provided, but bring your own fabric or paper for the cover if you wish.

13 May—Stained Glass Pendants
10am-4pm with Cynthia Else
Choose your glass, cut it to shape (a single piece decorated with silver wire or a combination of pieces to make a more intricate design), and make the pendant of your choice. Learn the copper foil technique to solder your glass together, add your wire and attach the silver tube for your pendant’s neck cord.
£45 including lunch. Materials: Small fee for glass and fixings.
20 May—Advanced Bread Making
10am-4pm with Bev Fullwood
Advance your skills at this ‘upper crust’ bread making session. Learn the art of sourdough and make delicious ciabatta. After a lunch of soup and made-in-the-morning bread, prepare enriched dough, teatime treats to take home.
£45 including lunch. Ingredients: £5
27 May—Silver Rings

10am-4pm with Jessica Noonan
Make a silver ring with rectangular wire by sawing, hammering, soldering and filing. Add texture/pattern using various hammer techniques. Or—Make a silver ring then add a cabochon stone.
Course: £45 including lunch. Materials: £12 (2 plain or 1 stone set ring).
10 June—Lino-block Printing
10am-4pm with Polly Warren
Create or bring a prepared design and learn how to transfer the image to a lino-block. Cut the block, ink it and use hand burnishing techniques or a small hand press to print the design onto paper or card.
£45 including lunch. Materials: £5.
24 June—Nuno Feltmaking
10am-4pm with Jeanne Roberts
Create a scarf or a piece of fabric to use as a cushion cover or wall hanging. Learn the Japanese Nuno process of layering fine fabric and wool. Encourage the wool to push through the fabric and create folds as it tightens and shrinks. Use pre-dyed chiffon, or decorate a piece using silk paints. The effects are beautiful.
£45 including lunch. Materials: £12.
1 July—Make a Silver Bangle
10am-4pm with Jessica Noonan
Make a bangle with round silver wire using techniques including: sawing, hammering, soldering and filing. Add texture to the surface using hammers.
£45 including lunch. Materials: approx £20/£25 (depending upon silver prices).
8 July—Decorating Fabric, Wood and Paper
10am-4pm with Steph Harvey
Use bleaching, marbling, applying wax and crackling to create your own works of art. Learn, practice, develop and combine techniques to decorate fabric, paper and/or wood.
